Short: 'Ember' Premieres at the NFMLA + The Academy Latinx & Hispanic Cinema Festival

A grieving family is at odds when a traumatized young woman comes into their lives claiming to be the daughter that was taken from them a decade earlier. - EMBER, 2022

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA), supported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is excited to present the NFMLA InFocus: Latinx & Hispanic Cinema Festival. The Festival is slated to run in-person for the first time since 2019 at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. The program line-up consists of three short film programs. The Festival is co-presented by The MBS Group and includes screenings, filmmaker Q&A sessions, industry development programs and educational panels.


NFMLA is an L.A. based arts and culture non-profit organization in its fifteenth year. NFMLA champions emerging storytellers from around the globe and offers year-round programming including the NFMLA Monthly Film Festival, InFocus diversity and inclusion series, Best of NFMLA Awards, DocuSlate Documentary Film Festival, STARZ #TakeThe Lead Writers’ Intensive, NewNarratives in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery OneFifty, CineCessions Student Mentorship program, and more.
